Nuisance and Pollution

Waste Management (e.g. land pollution, littering and illegal dumping)

Littering is the act of depositing waste/rubbish on land without permission and is an offence under the Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011. This includes cigarettes, green waste and household waste.

Report litter and illegal dumping to Council or online at www.ehp.gov.au as soon as possible.

Air Pollution (e.g. smoke or dust)

Air pollution can impact your neighbours and interfere with their daily activities. If severe enough, it can affect health and the environment. Council investigates complaints about air pollutants such as smoke, dust and dirt, light, odour and spray drift. Find out about air pollutants, regulation and how to make a complaint.

Noise Pollution (e.g. power tools)

Neighbourhood noise can be a nuisance and, if loud enough, affect people’s health.

Find out about acceptable noise levels, how to reduce noise and the complaints process.

Water Pollution (e.g. stormwater pollution)

Water is a scarce and essential natural resource. Conserving and maintaining water quality is especially important in Australia, the world’s driest inhabited continent. Preventing or reducing water pollution protects our water quality and is essential to maintaining the health of our environment and our own quality of life.
