AGRICULTURE FORUM
This workshop will provide Somerset Region’s primary producers with essential insights and practical strategies to enhance resilience, productivity, and sustainability in the face of key industry challenges.
Topics to include:
- Climate variability, your business, reliable information sources
- Biosecurity challenges: information & support available; critical weeds & pests
- Agri-tourism opportunities: understanding the potential of your place and diversifying you business for profitability
- What does sustainability mean and why it matters; potential impacts of focus on sustainability on your business
This workshop will equip producers with valuable knowledge and tools to navigate current and futureagricultural challenges effectively.
Facilitator: Dr Pamela Greet of Future Ag Qld
Pamela grew up around regional Queensland when banks in small towns were still operated. Fast forward through five decades in the workforce in Australia and overseas, Dr Greet has worked helping smallholder producers recover from drought and civil conflict in Africa, floods in Bangladesh, earthquakes in China and cyclones in Haiti. She has worked in community development and emergency response in Queensland, developed funding programs and strategies for government in health, disaster planning, capacity building and sport and recreation. Since 2018 she has worked extensively in the natural resource management area with producers, local groups, local government, and peak bodies. Future Ag Queensland was established in 2020 to support building the capacity of the Queensland ag sector.
