BUSINESS DISASTER MANAGEMENT
In late February and early March 2022, Southeast Queensland was subjected to devastating floods. This event had significant consequences across the Somerset Local Government Area, resulting in prolonged activation of the Local Disaster Management Group, Local Disaster Coordination Centre (LDCC) and Local Disaster Recovery Group (LRG).
The Business Recovery and Resilience Plan project was initiated to improve business resilience and enable effective business recovery. The project was jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements. Input for this project was received through research, consultations, regular visits to the region and engagement with local businesses. The project ran from February to December 2024 and delivered useful materials for business owners as well as several internal documents for Council.
