HAVE you spotted the famed Yowie this summer?

Somerset Regional Council’s tourism arm, Experience Somerset, has launched its summer marketing campaign, featuring the Kilcoy Yowie.

This season, holidaymakers are in for some family fun with ‘The Great Kilcoy Yowie Hunt’ and a chance to win a $1,000 accommodation voucher to NRMA Lake Somerset Holiday Park.

The Yowie can be spotted at some of his favourite locations in Somerset including Esk, Fernvale, Toogoolawah, Lake Somerset, Lake Wivenhoe and of course his hometown, Kilcoy.

Somerset Mayor Jason Wendt said the campaign was a great reason to get out and experience the region.

“When you find the Yowie, make sure to scan the QR code and enter your details to go in the draw for a chance to win a holiday experience,” Cr Wendt said.

To spread the word, visitors and residents are encouraged to snap a photo with the Yowies, upload to Facebook or Instagram and tag @experiencesomerset.

Pop into any of the Visitor Information Centres at Esk, Fernvale, Kilcoy and The Condensery in Toogoolawah to collect the free kids activity book, ‘Wowie! It’s a Yowie!’.

Cr Wendt encouraged visitors to take advantage of the many services on offer at the Visitor Information Centres.

“While you’re there, check out all the latest Somerset news and events, and get tailored travel advice from our dedicated team of tourism volunteers,” Cr Wendt said.

“Their local knowledge cannot be beat, providing friendly service and travel tips all served with a smile.”

The community can also participate in the campaign online.
