SOMERSET Regional Council has launched a new app, enabling library members to renew and reserve books, search the library catalogue and book events at Somerset Libraries.

The Somerset On The Go app is available on smart devices through Google Play and the App Store.

Through the app, Somerset library members can borrow straight from the shelf, manage accounts, loans and reservations, make event bookings and more.

Somerset Councillor Sally Jess said the app provided convenient solutions to challenges faced by regional libraries.

“The checkout process at Somerset library branches has been simplified with the availability of this app,” Cr Jess said.

“Borrowing a book is as easy as scanning the barcode on your smart phone and walking out of the library.

“At the tap of a button you can renew your loans too.

“Library members can also access a range of eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, comics and movies through the app’s eLibrary.”

Cr Jess said there were plenty of features in the app for users to explore.

“If you see a book you like in a shop you can scan its barcode and recommend it for purchase by our library,” Cr Jess said.

“You can also use the app to access various Council services, submit customer service requests, pay your rates or even view Council’s advertised jobs.”

For more information visit a Somerset Library branch or phone Council on 5424 4000.

Somerset Regional Council library assistant Kara Main is excited about the Somerset On The Go app, available on Google Play and the App Store.
