ARTISTS MYLYN NGUYEN & ELIZABETH WILLING IN CONVERSATION
Please join us for a free talk with Slow Churn artists Mylyn Nguyen and Elizabeth Willing in conversation with curators Olivia Welch and Rachel Arndt.
Following the performance on opening night, watch Elizabeth Willing at work casting her sculptural work Kernel within the gallery space over the day. Get a glimpse first hand of the artist’s process and technique and hear about her approach.
Mylyn Nguyen’s intricate miniatures of insects and buildings, including our very own The Condensery building, are included as part of Slow Churn. Using commonplace objects and intricately folded, cut and painted paper Mylyn’s practice humorously explores her childhood memories and curiosities. Her insects have peeped from boxes hidden in the walls of the Murray Art Museum Albury, and hundreds of her paper koi fish creations were seen beneath people’s feet at Customs House, Sydney. in 2015, Mylyn created a site-specific installation of paper moth-filled habitats underfoot in the subterranean cavity in the main entrance of Carriageworks.
