Somerset Rail Trail Fun Run or Ride
The 18th annual Somerset Rail Trail Fun Run or Ride will be held on Sunday 11 July 2021.
This event takes place on Australia’s longest recreational rail trail and is an initiative of Somerset Regional Council. The event is about sharing an active and healthy lifestyle with family, friends or work colleagues and enjoying the best of what the Somerset region has to offer.
Participants have the choice of running or walking 3km or 8km or a 25km bike ride along the historic Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, enjoying breathtaking views of the Brisbane Valley and Brisbane River.

Race Information
8km Run/Walk Event
The 8km event meanders through the beautiful Brisbane Valley, along the historic rail corridor. Starting at 9am, this event will start at Clock Park, Peace Street, Lowood and finish at the Fernvale Sports Park, Brouff Road, Fernvale.
3km Run/Walk Event
Also starting at 9am, the start point for the 3km course is located along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail off Old Fernvale Road, between Fernvale and Lowood. Please note that there is no parking at the 3km start, participants will be required to catch a shuttle service to the start point.
25km Bicycle Event
Starting at 8am from Clock Park, Peace Street, Lowood, the bicycle ride will allow riders to experience the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail whilst observing the undisturbed nature with native vegetation and bird life on display.

Post-Race Event
There will be plenty of free fun activities for the whole family to enjoy, including; Live Entertainment, Jumping Castle, Giant Slippery Slide, Rock Climbing Wall, Information Stalls, Food Stalls, Children’s Activities and More .
Collection of Race Packs
Race Bibs will be available to pick up for both bicycle and run/walk events on Saturday, 10 July 2021 between 10am to 12pm at Lowood Customer Service Centre and Library Cnr Main and Michel Street Lowood.
Event Day – Race bib collection and/or late registrations can be made the morning of the event, Sunday 11 July 2021 between 7am and 8.30am (race pack collection) or 7am to 8am (late registrations) at Clock Park, Lowood.
Bus Shuttles
There will be shuttle services in operation between Fernvale and Lowood from 7.20am to 11.40am to transport participants to the Lowood start line and from the Fernvale finish area.
Prizes
Overall male and female winners in the 8km event will be awarded the following prizes:
– 1st = $300
– 2nd = $200
– 3rd = $100
Medallions will be awarded to both the female and male 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each of the following categories in the 8km event:
– 12 years and under
– 16 years and under (13 – 16 years old)
– Open
Medallions will be awarded to both the female and male 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each of the following categories in the 3km event:
– 12 years and under
– Open
ENTRY FEES
Early Bird Entry | Adult $30 | Child $10 | Family $70
Early bird registration ends Sunday, 20 June 2021 at 11.59pm.
Late Entry | Adult $35 | Child $15 | Family $85
Note: Child entries are for ages 16 years and under as at 11 July 2021. Family entries include a maximum of two adults and three children.
