- Financial services officers can explain how financial products work, how financial products affect government payments, government payments and how a change in circumstances may affect your entitlements, how to find resources to help you with your financial matters and how a range of government and community services can help you. FIS Officers aren't financial planners or financial counsellors. They don't sell advice or deal with other agencies on your behalf. FIS officers don't make decisions about your government payments. They can give you useful information regarding all stages of life from commencing a new job to when someone is ready to retire or ready for aged care.
